Items scanned and uploaded to Canvas should be limited to one article per journal issue and one chapter per book. (Note: Item must be a lawfully obtained copy.)
- Include copyright notice for all items. Full attribution should be provided for each work.
- Scans of personal items should be one time only, include © notice and attribution, and should adhere to fair use guidelines.
Using items for multiple semesters requires permission from the copyright holder. If you need a work for multiple semesters, consider:
- Ask the library to purchase the item for the collection, or
- Create a licensed course pack via the SMU Bookstore. The bookstore works will secure licensing for educational use.
