The following groups are eligible for a guest card. See our Guest Borrowing Policies for more information.

TexShare Card Holders

TexShare card holders are eligible for a guest card at SMU. The TexShare program allows patrons of Texas libraries to borrow materials from other libraries around the state. To get a TexShare card, contact your home library (either the public library you go to or the library at your university). Once you have obtained your TexShare card from them, you can apply for a guest card at SMU. We cannot issue TexShare cards to guests. Learn more about TexShare program and check if your library is a member on the TexShare website.

Friends of the SMU Libraries

Library borrowing privileges are available when you join at the Associate level or higher. Memberships are not transferrable and the person whose name appears on the card must be present to checkout materials.

Interlibrary Loan

If you have a public library card or are affiliated with a college or university library, you can place a request through their Interlibrary Loan department. We can't mail our materials out to individuals, but we will lend materials to other libraries or institutions after we receive a request.
