When you only have a standard number, a standard name, or a general idea of the subject matter, you'll need to identify the volume in which it was published. This is done by searching the ASTM website.
This site can be searched by standard name, standard number or keyword subject/topic. In addition to information about availability and cost for purchase (often high), there is historic information as well as the “Book of Standards” volume number.
